He takes on Alex Bogomolov Jr. from Russia in his first match at the tournament.
Roger will be looking to add to his four crowns here in Cincinnati and certainly likes the hard courts of the Linder Family Tennis Center. He knows that he must get through these early rounds without working too hard as the a lurking Novak Djokovic awaits his arrival in the final (if both make it). Roger's win-loss record this year is at 51-7 this year.
On the other side of the net, Bogomolov Jr. comes into the tournament ranked 58 in the World. His win-loss record stands on the losing side at 10-22 and Bogomolov Jr. would be eying a good performance here and gather some valuable points. He was the most improved player last year and would want to justify this tag.
These two have only played each other once before and unsurprisingly it was Roger who came out on top on his way to his first Australian Open triumph back in 2004.
